Post Valentines

Belated Valentine's Day to all you out there! I woke up Valentine's morning to my husband rustling in the stairway outside our bedroom. When I finally dragged myself out of bed, there was a single rose in a vase in our doorway, framed by candies in a heart shape along with a sweet note. Next he led me to the soon-to-be baby's room, where there was another rose, heart of candies and a note about how excited he was to transform that room into our baby's nursery. The pattern continued, on through the bathroom, kitchen, living room and piano room, totaling 6 dozen, and each being accompanied by a unique note about something pertaining to that room. (Thanking me for doing laundry/dishes...looking forward to potty training our little one....grateful for my musical skills, etc. etc.) It was so sweet and a great way to start out our Valentine's Day together. :)

The rest of the day was spent with a later-morning brunch at Perkins -- which was packed. I should have expected that, I guess I just didn't think that Perkins, of all places, would be packed. But it was. It was enjoyable though...aside from the fact that nothing sounded good to me....gotta love being pregnant. :) We then enjoyed a movie and went on to spend time with our Bible Quiz Team.

And finally...here's the first of my pregnancy-progress pictures....I look a little "blah" because it was the end of a long day, and I was feeling quite nauseous....:)

"Lil' Smudge", as we like to call him/her hasn't made much of an appearance in my belly size yet...but I definitely feel the affects of him/her growing! :)

How about...We're pregnant!

We're about 7 weeks along now, and ask for prayer for the remaining 8 months awaiting our little gift from God! Can't wait to meet him or her! The expected due date is September 27th!

Book Store Mania

This past weekend, my husband and I went on a road trip...an 18 hour road trip to North Carolina for a good friend's wedding. On our way we picked up two college buddies, and met up with a third once we arrived. It was wonderful to get in touch with old friends...and to have some of our own adventures!!

One of these adventures occurred directly after the wedding. On our way to the camp where we were staying, we saw a sign that said "BOOK STORE -- Home of 200,000 books!" Hm. That piqued our curiosity, and since we had two Elementary Education majors, and three lovers of books, we decided to stop in. The turn led us down a small windy road, during which we anxiously scanned the scenery searching for a large building, large enough to hold 200,000 books.

We should have remembered that we were in North Carolina -- home of all things hick.

We finally saw our destination -- a smallish building, no larger than a typical convenience store. So we got out and made our way into the building. And holy smokes....who'd have thought it would be arranged like this??

As you might have guessed, my hubby was in Book Heaven...

The most incredible part of the whole thing was that this lady actually seemed to know where books were! There were a few signs identifying different genres of literature, but for the most part, you had to ask her for guidance.

And speaking of signs....when we saw the sign below, we began to wonder if the "book lady" was a little off her rocker...

When we finally decided to leave, my hubby and I noticed this interesting looking garden sculpture next door. Perhaps it's where the "book lady" lives? ...and what IS it, anyway?? It kind of freaked us all out, and only my dear friend Elaine had enough guts to sneak up to it and snap a picture.

So it can haunt us in our sleep.

Anywho, feel free to offer suggestions as to what you think it actually is....so far I think it's the head of Elvis glued to the body of a cherub. Any other takers??

Lil' Sut-Sut

I'm an aunt...again! On January 5th, Sutton Richard was born, weighing in at 7 lbs 7 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. My post is a bit delayed due to being on a road trip shortly afterwards...but here's some pics of the little guy!
